    Pretty decent summary of ASW and the sensors used in aviation.  ASW is one of the primary jobs of the P-8/A next to ISR so I've done quite a bit. Its a very fun game of cat and mouse and there is nothing better then finally finding the sub after potentially long periods of time searching for it.

    And that is infact a LA class sub, as stated by Gary

    Gary Micklethwaite , Excellent...Thanks! Me being an old USAF guy...Sub IDing was not part of flight training. However, I really enjoyed reading about the ASW community...very interesting! If you have time, it would be great to get a short article on what it's like to be an ASW crewmember.

    Definitely American. Probably Los Angeles 688 Class boat as the dive planes are on the sail. The 688i class boats moved the dive planes to the hull.
