  • Pretty decent summary of ASW and the sensors used in aviation.  ASW is one of the primary jobs of the P-8/A next to ISR so I've done quite a bit. Its a very fun game of cat and mouse and there is nothing better then finally finding the sub after potentially long periods of time searching for it.

And that is infact a LA class sub, as stated by Gary

  • Gary Micklethwaite , Excellent...Thanks! Me being an old USAF guy...Sub IDing was not part of flight training. However, I really enjoyed reading about the ASW community...very interesting! If you have time, it would be great to get a short article on what it's like to be an ASW crewmember.

  • Definitely American. Probably Los Angeles 688 Class boat as the dive planes are on the sail. The 688i class boats moved the dive planes to the hull.

  • Question for those ASOG ASW members...What sub is that on the image/picture?
